Bürkert’s 7‑Year Extended Warranty program extends coverage for eligible mass flow controllers and mass flow meters, providing up to seven years of protection against material and workmanship defects—contingent on annual calibration, inspection, and proper maintenance in accordance with Bürkert’s specifications.
- Available for eligible Bürkert mass flow controllers and mass flow meters purchased in 2026 and later.
- Extends the total warranty term to 7 years from the original warranty start date.
- Coverage is based on Bürkert’s standard limited warranty for defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
- Bürkert will repair or replace the device at its discretion when a covered defect is confirmed.
- The program mirrors the standard Bürkert warranty but extends protection up to seven years for qualifying devices.
- When a covered defect is confirmed, Bürkert may repair the device (including defective parts) or replace it with a new or refurbished unit of equivalent specification.
- Service can be carried out at a Bürkert facility or, where agreed in writing, on‑site by a Bürkert technician.
- Register your device on the Bürkert US website as part of the 7‑Year Extended Warranty program.
- Complete an annual Calibration Inspection by Bürkert or an authorized Bürkert service partner:
- Once every 12 months throughout the 7‑year term.
- Documented with a calibration certificate and service report.
- Follow the service cycle requirements:
- Every year: calibration in “as‑found” condition against Bürkert factory specifications, with adjustment if the device is outside tolerance.
- Every 3rd year: full refurbishment including seal and applicable filter replacement, internal cleaning, and full functional calibration (as found / as left).
- If the annual calibration and inspection are missed or not completed within a given 12‑month interval, the extended warranty for that device automatically lapses from the end of that period.
To keep coverage valid, customers must:
- Install, operate, and maintain the device according to Bürkert datasheets and operating instructions.
- Use the device only within specified process and media limits (pressure, temperature, flow range, gas type, contamination level, etc.).
- Avoid unauthorised modifications or repairs; only Bürkert or authorised partners may service the device (unless otherwise allowed in the documentation).
- Protect the device from mechanical and environmental damage and connect it according to the specified electrical and wiring instructions.
- Keep records of calibration certificates, service reports, and any major process changes that may affect performance.
The 7‑Year Extended Warranty does not cover:
- Improper installation, mounting, or unsuitable pipework.
- Operation outside specified limits (over‑pressure, wrong temperature, wrong media, etc.).
- Heavy contamination, corrosion, or deposit build‑up beyond normal levels.
- Unauthorised modifications, firmware tampering, or non‑approved repairs.
- Use with incompatible accessories, fittings, power supplies, or control systems.
- Mechanical damage (transport damage, impacts, drops, mishandling).
- External events such as fire, flood, explosion, lightning, or power surges.
- Normal wear of consumable parts (e.g., seals, filters, connectors) and normal drift.
- Routine maintenance, cleaning, application engineering, or removal/re‑installation costs unless explicitly agreed.
Contamination note: Devices that are contaminated beyond acceptable service limits, unsafe to handle, or classified as non‑serviceable are excluded from the extended warranty; any further work on such units is only on a time‑and‑materials basis.
- Annual calibrations and refurbishments are chargeable services unless included in a commercial agreement; charges do not affect warranty validity if all requirements are met.
- By default, customers bear the cost and risk of shipping to/from Bürkert service facilities and the costs for on‑site service (travel, accommodation, access, permits).
- If a reported fault falls outside warranty (e.g., incorrect installation, contamination, exclusions), diagnostics and repairs may be charged at standard service rates.
- The 7‑Year Extended Warranty is an add‑on to Bürkert’s standard limited warranty and provides the customer’s sole and exclusive remedy for covered defects during the extended period; liability is limited as described in the full Terms & Conditions.
Extended Warranty Program – Terms and Conditions
1. Program Description
Burkert USA Corporation (“Burkert”) offers an extended warranty program (the “Extended Warranty Program”) for Burkert Mass Flow Controllers and Mass Flow Meters (MFC/MFM) (the “Equipment”) sold to commercial end‑users in the United States (each, an “End-User”).
The Extended Warranty Program extends the duration of the standard limited warranty offered by Burkert applicable to the Equipment, subject to timely registration and ongoing maintenance and service requirements.
2. Relationship to Standard Warranty and Terms of Sale
The Extended Warranty Program supplements the standard limited warranty provided under Burkert’s applicable Terms and Conditions of Sale (the “Standard Warranty”).
Except for the extended duration of coverage and the eligibility and maintenance conditions expressly described in these terms, the scope of warranty coverage, exclusions, remedies, limitations of liability, claim procedures, notice requirements, governing law and dispute resolution applicable to the Equipment are identical to those set out in the Standard Warranty and Burkert’s applicable Terms and Conditions of Sale. No additional warranties are created.
3. Registration
3.1 Registration Requirement
Participation in the Extended Warranty Program requires registration of the Equipment by the End-User within thirty (30) days after receipt of the Equipment by the End-User. Failure to register within this period renders the Equipment ineligible for the Extended Warranty Program.
3.2 Registration Process
Registration must be completed using the QR code provided with the Equipment and must include:
(a) identification of the Equipment (including serial number); and
(b) the date of receipt by the End-User.
3.3 Confirmation
Following registration, a confirmation email will be issued. Confirmation does not relieve the End-User of compliance with these terms or Burkert’s applicable Terms and Conditions of Sale.
3.4 Accuracy of Information
The End-User is solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all registration information. Burkert may rely on the information provided when determining eligibility, warranty duration, and compliance with the Extended Warranty Program.
4. Extended Warranty Term
4.1 Base Warranty
The Equipment is covered by the Standard Warranty for the initial warranty period defined in Burkert’s applicable Terms and Conditions of Sale.
4.2 Annual Extensions
Following expiration of the Standard Warranty, warranty coverage may be extended one (1) year at a time, up to a maximum of six (6) additional years, for a total possible warranty period of seven (7) years, provided the requirements in Section 5 are satisfied for each year for which extended coverage is claimed.
4.3 Earned Coverage
Each annual extension is earned through compliance with the Extended Warranty Program requirements. There is no automatic renewal. Warranty periods run continuously and are not tolled or extended due to service, inspection, refurbishment, transport, or Equipment downtime.
5. Maintenance Requirements
5.1 Annual Calibration Inspection
As a condition to any extended warranty coverage, the Equipment must undergo a calibration inspection performed by Burkert at least once during the Standard Warranty period, and thereafter once during each successive twelve (12)‑month period for which extended coverage is claimed. Each twelve (12)‑month period is measured from the completion date of the prior required calibration inspection.
5.2 Three‑Year Refurbishment
In addition to the annual calibration inspection, every third (3rd) year, the Equipment must undergo a full refurbishment, including:
(a) replacement of all seals;
(b) replacement of applicable filters;
(c) internal cleaning; and
(d) calibration and functional testing to factory specifications.
5.3 Continuous Compliance
Failure to complete any required inspection or refurbishment within the applicable twelve (12)‑month period results in expiration of extended warranty coverage at the end of the last properly completed warranty year.
6. No Reinstatement
Once extended warranty coverage expires for any reason, it cannot be reinstated, regardless of subsequent service, inspection, refurbishment, or payment.
7. Service Logistics and Costs
The End-User is responsible for arranging shipment of the Equipment to a Burkert‑designated service facility in accordance with Burkert’s service instructions.
Burkert’s standard service rates apply. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the End-User bears all costs and risk of transport.
If a reported issue is determined to be outside the scope of warranty coverage (including due to incorrect installation, operating conditions, contamination, or misuse), Burkert may charge for diagnostics, repair, travel, and related services at its standard rates.
8. Claim Timing
Any warranty claim under the Extended Warranty Program must be submitted in accordance with the claim and notice requirements set forth in Burkert’s applicable Terms and Conditions of Sale and, in all cases, must be notified to Burkert before expiration of the applicable extended warranty period. Claims notified after expiration of such warranty period are barred.
