Facility Sampling Wells / Maintenance Locations

Sampling wells and maintenance locations in data centers are dedicated points in cooling and water systems where operators can safely draw fluid samples, drain or fill sections of piping, or connect temporary treatment equipment without disrupting live IT cooling. They are commonly placed on chilled-water, condenser-water, liquid-cooling, and make-up water loops to sup-port water-quality checks (pH, conductivity, TDS, microbes), chemical dosing, flushing, filter changes, and other preventive maintenance tasks that keep heat exchangers and pipes clean and efficient.

Bürkert supports these locations by providing valves and sensors that make sampling and maintenance controlled, repeatable, and automatable. Shut-off and control valves enable safe isolation of sampling points and drain/fill connections, while media-separated valves and hygienic designs help avoid contamination and handle chemically treated or high-purity water. Inline flowmeters and conductivity, temperature, and pressure sensors at or near these points give operators real-time confirmation of flow, water quality, and system conditions before and after maintenance or dosing, and feed this data to BMS/DCIM plat-forms for documentation, alarms, and optimization.
